Freelancers are wanted for Internet Daily News (tm). If you are looking for a vehicle to launch a career in writing, this may be the ticket.
Internet Daily News is a free daily newspaper live on the World-Wide Web. The newspaper is published by The Virtual Press and features columns covering a wide range of topics from the Internet to electronic publishing to computer technology.
Internet Daily News debuted in December 1995. IDN features a fun graphic design that is user-friendly. The site is optimized for Netscape but also has features for users with other browsers including text-only browsers.
IDN is growing. Currently, we run 16 regular columns. All writers who want to write for IDN are asked to list several (pref. 3) columns they would like to write for and why they would be a good choice for the particular column. Once a writer has a specified column, they will be asked to write 4 columns. While these columns will be used to determine the merit and appeal of your topic, they are your property until you sign a contract with us. We will not publish or use any material you send to us, unless you have a contract with us. All writers are asked to also submit material for a writer's background/bio/resume page. Writers are free to publish anything they want on their page, but material should be professional in nature. IDN is structured so a reader can jump from a column to the writer's background page to learn more about the writer or search through an index of writers.
IDN is a newspaper for Internet users. The areas we are looking to expand in include: Business, Publishing, Entertainment, Resource, Life and World. The columns we need to fill currently include:
IDN is currently published daily. The standard contract for all IDN writers includes a per-column payment schedule and bonuses. However, the payment scale is low compared to other larger organizations.
We are looking for writers that are willing to help us promote the heck out of IDN. This means helping us spread the word to the farthest corners of cyberspace. A good place to promote IDN is in your .signature file. Why not tell everyone you're a writer for IDN and give them the URL to the front page?
If you want to be one of our columnists send:
Again, thank you for the interest in Internet Daily News. I look forward to hearing from you!

Pulse of the Internet Magazine is a magazine venture in partnership with The Virtual Press. In early December 1995, we completed test marketing for the magazine and want to thank everyone involved. The results we received from the over 250 participants and test markerters were more than we had hoped for! Based on the strong results of the test period, we have decided to proceed with the project. Yet in keeping with customer comments and the need to re-think the distribution and marketing process for Pulse of the Internet, we will push the debut back until early 1997.
We are looking for writers that are willing to help us promote the heck out of Pulse. This means helping us spread the word about Pulse of the Internet whenever and wherever possible. The Virtual Press has already started its promotional campaign for Pulse of the Internet.
